Arborists in Tweed Heads, NSW
A limb over the roof, a trunk leaning toward the fence or a tree down after a storm are the jobs we spend most days on, from Tweed Heads along the Tweed Coast and across the southern Gold Coast. Climbers and a ground crew do the cutting, and a crane comes in when a tree cannot come down any other way.

About AAA Trees On Tweed
This is a tree service based at Tweed Heads, working on both sides of the state border. The work runs from one palm that needs its dead fronds cleared to a block of acreage that needs a fire break, and all of it happens at your property, because there is no yard to drop a tree off at.
Most calls start the same way. A limb is over the roof, a trunk is leaning toward a fence or roots are lifting a path. What we do next depends on what sits under and around the tree as much as on the tree itself: wires, sheds, pools, neighbours and the way a truck gets in.

Our Tree Services in Tweed Heads
13 of them. They run from emergency work after a storm and everyday trimming to stump grinding, land clearing and crane-assisted removal. Each one has its own page with what is included and how the job runs.
Emergency tree service
Emergency tree work is for the tree that has already come down or is about to: a storm-torn limb, an uprooted trunk, a split crown hanging over a roof or driveway.
Tree trimming
Tree trimming takes dead wood, crowded growth and overhanging branches off a tree that is staying. It keeps light and air moving through the canopy and clears roofs, gutters, fences and paths.
Tree removal
Tree removal takes a whole tree down, from the top and in pieces where space is tight, then deals with the timber and leaves the ground clear for whatever comes next.
Stump grinding
Stump grinding takes a cut-off tree stump down below ground level with a grinding machine, so the spot can be turned over to lawn, paving or a new planting.
Tree limb removal
Limb removal takes one damaged, dead or overhanging branch off a tree at the right point, and lowers it to the ground in pieces so nothing lands on the roof, fence or driveway.
Root removal
Root removal digs out or cuts away roots that are lifting paving, cracking a driveway, pressing on pipes or left in the ground after a tree has gone, and fills the ground back in.
Tree pruning
Pruning is selective cutting of live, dead and crowded branches back to the right point, so the tree keeps its shape and health and clears your roof, gutters and paths.
Tree chipping and mulching
Chipping feeds branches and brush through a commercial chipper on the property, turning a pile of green waste into mulch you can keep for your garden or have hauled away.
Land clearing and fire breaks
Land clearing removes trees, scrub and weeds from a block or paddock with mechanical equipment, and a fire break is a cleared strip kept open around a house, shed or boundary.
Palm tree removal
Palm tree removal is the taking down of a single palm or a row of them, in sections from the crown, with fronds, pods and trunk dealt with on site.
Arborist services
Arborist work is looking at a tree before anything is cut, to judge its health, structure and risk, then deciding whether to prune, treat, leave or remove it.
Commercial tree services
Commercial tree work covers retail sites, business parks, school grounds and council land, where trees stand over customers, cars and buildings and the job has to be planned around the site's day.
Crane-assisted tree removal
Crane-assisted removal uses a crane to take the weight of each section while a climber makes the cuts, then lifts it clear of roofs, fences and pools.
How it works
From the first call to the last rake
You call and describe the tree
Say where the tree stands, how tall it is and what it is close to, such as a roof, a fence or a wire. A phone photo from a safe distance helps if you have one. You do not need to know what the job is called.
We look at what is around it
The tree is only half the picture. We check where the cut pieces can land, what sits underneath, where the truck and chipper can park and whether the tree has to be climbed or lifted out. That decides how the work is done.
The work is done and cleared
Cuts are made in sections and lowered rather than dropped wherever something is in the way. Branches go through the chipper, and you choose whether the mulch stays in your garden or goes with us.

Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Which areas do you cover?
Tweed Heads, the Tweed Coast, Murwillumbah and the Tweed Valley, and the southern Gold Coast as far as Palm Beach and Tallebudgera. Each place has its own page on the service areas page. If yours is not listed, ask, because the list is where we work most often rather than a boundary.
Do you work in Queensland as well as New South Wales?
Yes. The work crosses the border at Tweed Heads and Coolangatta and carries on through Gold Coast suburbs such as Currumbin, Elanora and Bilinga. Which council a tree falls under changes with the side of the border, and that can change what you need to check before a tree comes down.
Which tree jobs do you do?
Trimming, pruning, tree and limb removal, stump grinding, root removal, chipping and mulching, palm tree removal, land clearing and fire breaks, arborist services, commercial tree work, crane-assisted removal and emergency tree work. Each job has its own page on the services page.
Do you do emergency tree work?
Yes. Emergency tree service is one of the jobs on the services page. We are open 24 hours a day, Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sundays. Ring 0458 795 659, say what has come down and what it is lying on, and keep everyone well back until we have spoken.
What is the difference between pruning and lopping?
Pruning takes a branch off at the branch collar, the swelling where it joins the trunk, so the tree can seal the wound. Lopping cuts through a branch anywhere along its length and tends to leave a stub that decays. Pruning is the method for a tree that is staying.
What happens to the branches and the mulch?
Branches and leaves are put through a commercial chipper on site. You can keep the mulch for your garden beds or have it taken away, whichever suits the block.
How far down is a stump ground?
Below ground level, so the spot can go back to lawn, paving or a new planting. Roots are taken out as well when they need to be, and the chips and debris are dealt with as part of the job.
How often do palm trees need cleaning?
Once or twice a year is usual. The job is taking off the dead brown fronds, seed pods and berries that would otherwise land on paths, cars and people.
Do I need council permission to remove a tree?
Often you do, and it varies. Tree preservation rules depend on the council, the zoning, the size of the tree and whether it is a native or protected species. Check with your council before a large or protected tree comes down.
What is crane-assisted tree removal?
A crane takes the weight of each section while a climber makes the cuts, then lifts it clear. It is used for trees that are large, dangerous or too hard to reach any other way, such as ones standing over a house or close to power lines.
What should I tell you when I call?
Where the tree is, roughly how tall it is, what it stands near, such as a roof, fence, pool or wire, and whether it is leaning or has split. A photo taken from a safe distance helps. Say whether a truck can reach the back yard too.
What should I do if a tree or limb is touching a power line?
Stay well back, keep people and pets away, and do not touch the tree or anything it is touching. Treat the line as live and ring 000 if anyone is at risk. Once everyone is clear, ring the number at the top of this page and tell us what is touching what.
